On Thursday, September 21st, a delegation from the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference visited XLIS with the aim of fostering friendly exchanges and providing advice and suggestions to enhance international education in Shaanxi. Present at the meeting were Dr. Liu, Head of the School; Ms. Echo Zhao, Director of Brand Development; Mr. Kriss Parker, Director of Logistics; and some of our PTA members.
During the meeting, Dr. Liu began by extending a warm welcome to the delegation. Mr. Yan Chaoying, the Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, expressed deep admiration for our school’s targeted approach, management style, and distinctive strengths. He particularly noted the pervasive presence of Chinese traditional cultural elements on our campus and the emphasis placed on Chinese language education and talent development in our teaching and learning practices. These elements, he emphasized, have played a significant role in fostering international cultural exchanges and the socioeconomic development of Shaanxi. He also put forward several new expectations for XLIS’s future development, including leveraging opportunities to elevate the school to new heights, acting as a bridge for promoting friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries, and enhancing its role in building stronger bonds among people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
XLIS PTA members from Hong Kong, South Korea, Russia, and Iran shared their experiences of working and living in Xi’an and offered constructive suggestions. These suggestions encompassed the provision of personalized and convenient services for tourists from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan visiting Xi’an, promoting cultural exchanges among young generations from China and other countries worldwide, expanding Xi’an’s openness to attract top overseas talents to work in the city, offering scholarships to primary and secondary students in international schools, and optimizing the policy for loans for foreigners to purchase houses and cars in China.
In recent years, as Shaanxi has become more deeply integrated into the “Belt and Road” initiative and continues to implement the Xi’an international metropolis development strategy, an increasing number of people from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas have come to live and work in Xi’an. This trend underscores the pressing need for international, high-quality educational support services for the children of foreign experts. Consequently, the internationalization of education has become increasingly vital. XLIS remains committed to its mission of enhancing education quality and strives to develop into an international school with distinctive characteristics, serving as a model while contributing positively to the economic and social well-being of the region. XLIS aims to unite individuals who share a love for China and Chinese culture from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas, with the goal of sharing positive stories about China, promoting Chinese traditional culture, and creating innovative development patterns for Shaanxi province.
XLIS extends our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Yan and the esteemed representatives of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Overseas Chinese, and Foreign Affairs Committee for their valuable insights, warm encouragement, and unwavering support during their visit to XLIS. Your visit has been a catalyst for positive change, and we look forward to continued collaboration and friendship as we work together to strengthen international education in Shaanxi and foster greater cultural understanding between our regions.
