01. Christmas Show and Winter Art Exposition – Saturday, 11th December
At XLIS, our students, teachers, and staff are equally excited to announce our 2021 Christmas Concert! This year, we have chosen the topic of “Thankfulness” as the context of our concert. Also, we are very happy to inform you that we will be streaming the entire concert to our parent community “live”! At the same time, the general election of the new PTA conference will be held. Please be on the lookout for the up-coming Christmas log-in details and show announcements from the school, so that you may join us on-line for yet another Christmas concert to remember! We will also announce very soon whether a number of parents may attend the concert in person. An email containing all details will be sent home very soon!
02. End of ECAs -Thursday, 16th December
Please be kindly reminded that Thursday the 16th of December 2021, marks the end of the first semester of our Extra Curricular Activities (ECA). From then onward, buses will depart the school at regular times on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A new and engaging ECA program for the second semester will begin in February, 2022. Please stay tuned for more information, classes, and sign-up information about this program. Thank you to all who supported us with this exciting endeavor!
03.Christmas Break & New Year’s Day Holiday – Saturday, 18th December- Sunday, 2nd January
Our school’s Christmas Break and New Year’s Day Holiday is observed from the 18th December, 2021 to 2nd January, 2022. We welcome our students and staff back to school, on Monday the 3rd of January 2022!

Primary assemblies enable students to actively display what they have taken from their units of inquiry during the year. Students have been working on a trans-disciplinary theme which focuses on knowledge, concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action and Learner Profile attributes. The schedule is as follows,

Approaches to Learning (ATLs) are skills which are embedded in the IB programs from the PYP to the DP. They are communication skills, research skills, self-management skills, thinking skills and social skills. Ms. Zialcita our PYP Coordinator and Ms. Fan our Assistant Coordinator will take you through a recent Professional Development teachers received in this area. They will enable you to support students in the development of ATLs at home.

For the third year, our secondary students will work together in homerooms to shop for a migrant child with financial needs in Xi’an. We ask families to support this project.
