1. End of ECAs

Our ECA program ended on December 15th, 2022. The new program will begin in February 2023. Thanks to all of you who supported us with this exciting endeavor!

 

2. PTA Core Member Meeting

It was the last monthly PTA Core Member Meeting of this semester, major meeting content were as below: 1. Christmas Show and Market. 2. Epidemic Management Update on Campus. 3. Semester 1 Parent Events Sharing. 4.  Partnership between Parents and School—the Secondary encouraged more parents to participate in regular school activities; we do believe that these professional and practical instructions will help parents better understand IB Progarammes and related requirements so as to enable family supporting student’s holistic development. At last, several campus operation issues such as school bus route, lunch menu, etc. were communicated and explained.

 

3. Early Release & Teachers-led Workshop for All Staff

On Wednesday the 7th of December we had an early release for students. From 14:30 all staff were taking a series of workshops led by XLIS teachers in order to help us achieve our first schoolwide goal. The workshops were as follows:

 

· Developing Academic Literacy – Tanapat Treyanurak

· Addressing Challenging Behaviours in the Classroom – Lea Grinter

· How to use IXL to plan, assess and differentiate instruction – Alexander Boel

· DP assessment – Kelvin Tian

· Interdisciplinary units – Randy Welch

· TOK for Subject Teachers – Eva Liu

· Scaffolding Instruction – Benjamin Wright

1. Primary Parent Workshop

Tuesday, 20th December – PYP2Theme: How to Better Help Students with Mandarin Study at HomeThis year we are taking a different approach to the Parent Workshops that were offered in previous years. So far, we have offered a more focused workshop for each grade level, to really address areas the parents have the most interest in. We gathered ideas from parents at each level and designed the workshop based on parent suggestions. 

Secondary School Events

 

1. DP Course Selection Night

On the 9th of December from 4:00-5:30 the DP Coordinator and the DP teachers hosted an information evening on the subjects that were offered at XLIS to the MYP5 students. All MYP5 students and parents attended this important session, and they were then able to make insightful choices for their subjects in DP.

 

2. Secondary Parent Workshop

December 7th: 9:00-10:30 am

Assessments in the MYP for parents from MYP1&2

The purpose of this workshop was to familiarize parents with the assessments in the MYP. The Coordinator Ms. Emma ran an interactive workshop during which parents learned about the nature of assessments.

 

December 9th: 4:00-5:30 pm

DP Course selection night for MYP5

This was an important event for students and parents of the MYP5. It was the time of the year when students started thinking about their future paths and this session led by the DP Coordinator, Shameek Ghosh and facilitated by the DP teachers, enabled them to understand the requirements of DP and make informed choices.

 

December 21st: 9:00-10:30 am

MYP3 & MYP4: University Counseling at XLIS and Time Management

The Secondary Principal and the University Guidance Counselor discussed the importance of time Management in High School and the preparations needed for university application through online session.
