1. Semester 1 Reports – Friday, 13th January
End of semester reports will be released to parents on Managebac.
2. Chang’an Cup · U19 International Basketball Tournament
Friday, 13th January – Saturday, 14th January
On January 13th and 14th XLIS will host the third annual Chang’an Cup, a U19 basketball tournament for high school students in Xi’an. The tournament will feature teams from 7 different schools in Xi’an that offer international high school programs. 7 teams will compete for the Chang’an Cup in the boys’ division and 5 will do the same in girls’ division. After postponements and cancellations last year due to the pandemic, students and schools across the city are excited for the chance to participate in the city’s premier sporting event. Let’s go Blue Dragons!
3. The XLIS 2023 Spring Concert – Tuesday, 17th January
“Welcoming the Year With a Message of Hope!”will take place on Tuesday afternoon, January 17th, 2023. The schedule is as below and the program will be comprised of Christmas carols and other lively student performances! This event aims to make up for our beloved 2022 Christmas Show! Primary School Events
1. Assemblies – Fridays
Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.

4. Report Conference (Parent-teacher Report Conferences in Primary)
Wednesday, 18th January
Our Semester 1 report cards will be issued on January 13th. You can download your child’s report through Managebac to keep for your records. On January 18th all parents are invited to participate in our second set of Parent-Teacher conferences this year. It is 15 minutes for you and your child’s teacher to discuss their learning. A schedule will be sent before hand and we also encourage you to email any of our specialist teachers to also set a time with them. Please note there is no classes for students that day.
Secondary School Events
1. Secondary Chinese New Year Celebration – Thursday, 12th January
From preparation to presentation of the Chinese New Year celebrations in the secondary school always follow the target of student-centered and student-led learning. As the supporters, Chinese teachers encourage and mobilize every student to participate in the creation, speech and performance of Chinese. The theme of the speech contest is ‘My youth’. International students from all over the world will stand on the stage. They will express their understanding of youth, academic learning and growth in front of the public. And students’ calligraphy works will also be displayed outside of the black box. They will experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture together through calligraphy.
2. Report Conference (Three -Way Conferences in Secondary)
Wednesday, 18th January
All parents are invited to attend a 3-way conference on the 18th January-this will give you the opportunity to hear the reflections of the students on their learning. You will be able to understand how they approach their learning and also you can discuss with the teachers of ways to address any confusions that may arise in the understanding of assessments.
