Dear Parents,
Welcome to June! An exciting time for all of us as we look forward to the summer holidays.
Last week was a very busy week for our educators and an exciting one for our students. For the M1 students, this was the first time away from home and experiencing life in the local communities. The other grade levels have had this experience before, but I am sure it is always exciting to discover the cultures and lifestyles of the communities in beautiful China. What we need to remember is that this was an educational trip and students had to live their learner profile attributes while completing the activities that were planned for them. Feedback from the teachers confirms that a lot of students stood out in the way they interacted with the various communities. I would like to also thank our dedicated educators who spent a week on a 24-hour duty to ensure that our students were safe. We are very lucky at XLIS to have such committed and dedicated teachers.
This week we celebrate the achievements of our M5 students. The MYP Celebration will be on the 6th of June from 10:00 am. All M5 parents are invited to attend this important ceremony and celebrate their students. After the ceremony, there will be a barbecue for all parents, students, and M5 teachers. I hope to see all parents on that day. This cohort of M5 students has impressed me with their commitment to their work and the impact they made on their employees during their work experience week. A lot to commend them for. I hope they keep this same positive attitude as they move on to the Diploma Programme.
For the rest of the weeks, all students are back in class, and they will continue with their work till the end of the semester. We will introduce the DP courses to the M5 students and explain the skills that they will need in the DP. I would like to remind parents that attendance during these last weeks is imperative. They will still be completing assessments and all outstanding work that will help teachers decide on the awards for the end of the year. Please contact the homeroom teacher and copy me if your child is sick and cannot come to school.
As we reach the end of the academic year, I would like to thank all parents for their continuing support and as I always say- the success of your child relies on the collaboration of school and home. Please contact me if you have any concerns or queries at jaimala.quinlan@xalis.com
