Dear Parents,
Greetings! As we approach the festive season, I am delighted to share some important updates with you.
- Christmas Concert – “Twenty Years of Joyful Jingles”
XLIS is nearing a significant milestone this year as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, marking our incredible journey from XHIS to XLIS. I am thrilled to announce that our Christmas concert, titled “Twenty Years of Joyful Jingles,” will take place on December 16th, 2023. All parents are encouraged to actively participate in the event by recording greeting videos, engaging in the Christmas market and fundraising activities, as well as joining in the decoration efforts.
Greeting video
A warm invitation to you and your family, as well as any former families you are still in touch, who have been part of the XLIS(XHIS) community from 2003 to 2023, to contribute to a greeting video. These videos will be showcased on the big screen on the concert day, allowing us to celebrate and reflect upon the remarkable development of XLIS throughout the years. Please see the shooting requirements, along with a sample video from Mr. Alex as the attachments. The completed video can be shared with Ms. Erica (erica.yang@xalis.com), the Head of the Admin Department, before December 4th.
Christmas market and fundraising
Volunteering parents are welcome to participate in the Food Booth at the Christmas Market and serve delicious homemade food to the XLIS community. To spread joy and blessings through the power of food. The total proceeds from the food sales by parents will be donated as New Year gifts to our dedicated service staff, such as cleaners and security guards, etc. For parents who are not involved in the Food Booth, I encourage you to visit the Student Council booth or make a donation to contribute to the spirit of giving and love. Your support will make a difference in the lives of our dedicated service staff.
Decorations
Parents are invited to join teachers and students in the joyful task of decorating classrooms and hallways for the holiday season with the theme “Christmas Forward New Year.” The school will provide part of the decorations, and students are welcome to bring their favorite ornaments to school and share their ideas for Christmas decorations. If you are interested, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher to confirm the exact time and details of when you can come to school for decoration by December 1st.

- Traffic Regulations – Running Red Lights
A concerned parent has reported that some XLIS community members disregard traffic rules, especially by running red lights at intersections near the school. I would like to remind all members of the community to strictly observe traffic rules, including obeying traffic signals. As the first school to move into an international community, it is crucial for us to set a positive example for the students of XLIS and the surrounding schools, by upholding the values we strive to instill in our students. Let us all work together through responsible behavior to contribute to a safe and respectful community.
I am so grateful to have such united and dedicated parents to work with. Thank you all for being a constant source of strength. Let’s embrace the spirit of community-driven and create a festive and welcoming atmosphere for all XLIS community members to enjoy during this special time of the year!
Warm regards,
Lily Liu
