Whole School Events
1.The Second Annual Chang’an Cup – Friday, 11th March – Saturday, 12th March
The Second Annual Chang’an Cup will be played on March 11 and 12, 2022. The tournament will feature 15 teams representing seven schools in Xi’an that offer an international curriculum at the senior high school level. The 15 teams are spread across a boys’ division of eight teams and a girls’ division of seven teams. Each division will play games over the two days, occurring from 9:00AM to 8:00PM on Friday and 8:00AM to 4:00PM on Saturday.
2. PTA Core Members Meeting – Tuesday, 15th March
This is a private event designed for PTA Core Members only. PTA Core Members will be notified accordingly.
3. Track and Field Day – Saturday, 26th March
XLIS will hold it’s 2022 “Track and Field Day” on Saturday March 26th, 2022. Formerly known as “Sports’ Day”, this action-packed event will feature students of all year levels as they compete and showcase their athletic skills, on and around our beautiful Track and Field! From running and relay, to long jump and much more, this event also aims to welcome our parent community! Please keep an eye for the school’s official announcement coming soon.
Primary School Events
1. Assemblies – Fridays
Primary assemblies enable students to actively display what they have taken from their units of inquiry during the year. Students have been working on a trans-disciplinary theme which focuses on knowledge, concepts, ATLs (Approaches to Learning), action and Learner Profile attributes. The schedule is as follows,

02.Child Protection PD – Monday, 7th March
Monday the 7th will be a PD day for all staff. Primary school teachers will take training in the area of Child Protection. The school has developed the XLIS Child Protection Code of Conduct. This is a document which all adults who are in contact with children at XLIS must be trained in and agree to. As well as this teachers will take training in our academic policies and transdisciplinary learning.
03. PYP Parent Coffee Morning – Tuesday, 8th March
All the primary school students at XLIS have recently taken part in assessment in the areas of mathematics, reading and writing. During this coffee morning Mr. Lalor will take time to share the results with our community. He will also share information on the school assessment policy and we will look at what authentic assessment means. Prior to the meeting Mr. Lalor will be emailing for R.S.V.P. and to collect questions in advance.
Secondary School Events
1. In school Professional Development – Monday, 7th March
The secondary teachers will have a professional development training on 7th March. There are two sessions, in the morning they will review and work together for the GRASPS teaching system. and in the afternoon the teachers will be in a different group to share the teaching experiences.
2. DP Coffee Morning – Tuesday,1st March
Time 9:00 – 10:30

The DP group will discuss the evaluation with the parents. Parents have been asked to attend a meeting with the IB team and the logistics and details of that meeting will be discussed.
3. International Women’s Day Event – Tuesday, 8th March
Secondary students will celebrate International Women’s Day with a special pizza lunch to raise money for Nantume’s Pad Project in Uganda. After lunch, students will participate in various activities to celebrate and empower women.
4. IB DP Evaluation Visit – Wednesday, 9th March – Friday,11th March
5. MPY5 Personal Project Exhibition – Friday, 25th March
Personal Project is the culminating task for the five years of the Middle Years Programme. We will welcome all XLIS communities to come and celebrate the year-long project-based learning journal of or passionate, resilient and creative MYP5 students.
6. DP2 Mock Exams – Monday,28th March – Friday,31th March
Every year, DP2 sit for mock exams before their finals in May. The aim of these exams is to prepare them for the real exams in May. The conduct of the examinations is organized following IB guidelines. The results will help students know which area to improve.
