Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you well after the Chinese new year. As we gradually welcome spring, please be watchful of the temperature and changes in air quality. We hope you keep healthy. We are excited about all the events that are coming up in March especially the ACAMIS model UN that will be hosted at XLIS at the end of this coming weekend. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to extend their debating skills.
Events
March 8- We have our SILK Road music festival.
March 11- We will have a parent workshop led by the secondary care team. This will be to do with how our care team operates and how parents can partner with us to support children at home on their social and emotional development.
March 12-13- ‘Maker fair’ organized by the secondary science and mathematics department
March 18-20- Our DP2 students have their visual art exhibition that is part of their examination. There will be some great artwork on display from our artists.
March 24- Our XLIS athletes will compete in the XLIS sports day. More on this will follow soon.
In the last week of March, our M5 students will do their mocks. The mock examinations like the DP 2 mocks would allow students to be prepared for the MYP e-assessments later on.
Uniform
I would like to take this opportunity to request your support in encouraging your child to wear the school uniform. The dress code is available in all the secondary handbooks. Uniform helps us in safety scenarios too. Please feel free to reach out to us if you need further support and queries.
Technology use
As a follow up of Dr. Liu’s email to parents, I am reaching out to support you in teaching our children to have good digital habits and be responsible young adults. I am sharing a link on digital habits for all parents to go through. We would like to partner with you in educating children on the positive and negative effects of social media such as ‘We-Chat’ and devices.

Early leave requests– Please keep us informed for any early departures from school. This can be informed to the homeroom teacher and/or the PR so that we can ensure your child’s safety.
Regards and always feel free to reach out to me.
