I hope this email finds you well and that you had a wonderful time at the Christmas concert and XLIS 20th-anniversary celebration last Saturday. With the holiday season approaching, I wish you a fantastic Christmas and New Year holiday starting from December 22nd! Enjoy your well-deserved break! Before we embark on the holiday break, I want to highlight some important upcoming events in January:
1. Secondary Principal Announcement
I am thrilled to announce that starting from August 1st, 2024, Mr. Shameek Ghosh will assume the role of Secondary Principal at XLIS. Mr. Shameek, DP Coordinator, DP Biology Teacher, eighteen years of IB teaching experience, Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management. He emerged as a successful candidate after a rigorous selection process involving 35 candidates and interviews conducted by the ASL, PLT, and SLT. With his wealth of experience and expertise, he is committed to upholding the academic rigor that XLIS is known for and further enhancing our secondary school program. Three key areas of focus for the Secondary for next academic year are as follows:
- Continue the vertical articulation and strengthen the secondary curriculum.
- Mentor our secondary teachers to reflect and improve their teaching practices.
- Improve communication and collaboration with parents to strengthen our secondary.
Many thanks to Ms. Jaimala Quinlan for her dedicated work over the past seven years at XLIS, which has made a significant contribution to the development of our Secondary division. She will continue to support the transition process for the rest of this school year, ensuring a seamless continuation of secondary operations. 2. Semester 1 Reports
I want to inform you that the Semester 1 reports will be released on January 12th. These reports will provide you with valuable insights into your child’s progress and will include points and specific comments from their teachers. I kindly request that you carefully review the reports before attending the Parent-Teacher Conference scheduled for January 17th. This conference represents an excellent opportunity for you to engage in meaningful discussions with your child’s teachers regarding their academic and school-life experiences.
3. Chinese New Year Celebration
I highly encourage parental involvement during the Chinese New Year celebration on January 31st, various Chinese culture-related activities will be organized for both Primary and Secondary students.
For Primary parents, you are warmly invited to support the decoration of the Early Years area entrance, creating an immersive Chinese New Year atmosphere. If you have any ideas or would like to contribute, please reach out to Ms. Nancy Jing, Primary Chinese Language Lead Teacher, at nancy.jing@xalis.com.
For Secondary parents, welcome to lead one project related to Chinese culture to our secondary students. Your involvement will provide students with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditions.
