Labor Day Holiday

The school will be closed for the Labor Day Holiday from Thursday, 1st May to Sunday, 4th May, 2025. We wish you all a safe and wonderful holiday.

Wednesday, 14th May

Student-led Conference

The student-led conference is an opportunity for our community to come and learn from the student directly. In the primary school classrooms are usually set up in stations. Students lead their parents through various subjects, displaying their understanding of Mathematics, Language, Science and Social Studies. Do not forget to go to specialist classes with your child to see what they are doing in The Arts, PSPE and Mandarin. Our Visual Arts team will also have the Primary Visual Arts Exhibition outside of the Blue Dragon Theatre on this day.The secondary school takes a different approach and placing the student at the center, has a three way conference between the student, parent and teacher. Students have traditionally designed a concept map. Using one macro concept students explain to their parents how they connected learning across disciplines. Attending conferences is a priority at XLIS. Quite often we find a direct correlation between student success and parent partnerships.

Summer Fair

Summer has finally arrived and with it comes one of our most fun community events: the XLIS Summer Fair!

This year’s Summer Fair will feature an Outdoor Concert and Open Mic, a Visual Arts exhibition, Live Art, delicious international food, and a myriad of fun games for the entire family!Please refer to the following guidelines for this celebration:· Theme: “A Carnival under the Sun!”· Date: Sat. Assemblies

Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.

Thursday, 8th May
Primary Parent Workshop
Title: Inquiry-based Mathematics
Led by Ms. Julia Fan and Ms. Shevon HuDuring this session, we will explore how students learn math within the PYP framework. We’ll discuss the benefits of an inquiry-based approach, highlighting how it motivates students and fosters a deeper interest in mathematics. Together, we will look at some home support strategies.

Saturday, 31st May
Early Years and LP School Open Day
In May, XLIS will hold the Early Years and Lower Primary School Open Day, and we invite all prospective families who are interested in enrolling in XLIS to sign up for the event. On the day of the event, the Primary Principal will give a comprehensive and in-depth introduction of primary curriculum. And students will have the chance to experience an IB style demo class. What’s more, the admission team will also lead you to visit the campus to learn about the school’s facilities, school life, admission criteria, etc., allowing you to experience high-quality international education in a comprehensive and multi-faceted manner. We look forward to meeting you at the Open Day and starting an educational journey full of hopes and dreams together.

Monday, 5th May

Secondary Parent Workshop

The parent workshop will focus on what the Secondary school looks like. This is specifically designed for P6 parents and will be led by Mr. Shameek and colleagues in the secondary. Moving from Primary into secondary can be challenging as there are differences in academic expectations and self management skills. The workshop will focus on some of the differences and how to navigate through the challenges of joining secondary school but looking forward to it by being well prepared.

Friday, 23rd May

DP Graduation

On May 23, our cohort of 2025 will finally be ready to graduate and leave school after their school life. There are dreams that have been nurtured and skills that have been sharpened over their time at XLIS. The graduation ceremony is a celebration of achievement, resilience and hope. The graduating class of 2025 will relive some of their memories and share their experiences with us on the path that they have taken up and until the day.
