Reflecting on 2024
2024 was an incredible year filled with moments that brought us pride, joy, and inspiration. From prestigious recognitions to unforgettable events, each milestone reflects the dedication and passion of our students, parents, and staff.
Here are a few highlights:
· March 2024: Ranked 25th on the 2023 Hurun Baixue Top 30 Foreign National Schools list.
· April 2024: Ranked 19th among the Top 50 Foreign National Schools on the Jingling 2024 China International Schools Innovation Competitiveness Top 100 List (AAAA rating).
· July 2024: Accredited as a Foreign Experts Service Station by the Xi’an Science and Technology Bureau (Foreign Experts Bureau).
· September 2024: Recognized as an International Student Recruitment Base by Xi’an Jiaotong University.
· September 2024: Designated as the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Soft Power Demonstration Base by the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Soft Power Research Association.
Other key highlights include:
· March 2024: Hosted the ACAMIS Junior Swim Meet.
· April 2024: Welcomed Professor David Cardwell from the University of Cambridge.
· June 2024: Hosted the IBAP Workshops.
· October 2024: Welcomed Prince of Wales Island International School (Malaysia) to XLIS.
· October 2024: Successfully passed the WASC Mid-Cycle Visit.
· November 2024: Successfully passed the MYP Interim Visit.
Upcoming Events in January
As we step into the new year, January is brimming with opportunities for connection, celebration, and growth. Let’s begin 2025 with energy and purpose as we embrace these exciting events.
- Parent-Teacher Conference
As we wrap up the first semester, Semester 1 reports will be released on January 10th. The Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC) will be held on January 15th. If you have any questions after reviewing the report or from your regular communication with teachers, please stay tuned for Primary and Secondary updates and apply for a one-on-one parent meeting to discuss your child’s development.
- Chang’an Cup – U19 Basketball Invitational
The fifth edition of the Chang’an Cup is set to be the biggest yet! This exciting invitational tournament will bring together 22 teams from 12 schools to compete for the prestigious Chang’an Cup from Thursday, 16th January to Saturday, 18th January 2025. Further details will be shared by Mr. Zachary Dwyer, the Secondary Physical and Health Education Teacher, ACAMIS Athletics Coordinator, at zach.dwyer@xalis.com . Join us in cheering on our very own XLIS Blue Dragons as they showcase their skills on home court.
- Chinese New Year Celebration
I am thrilled to celebrate the Chinese New Year with performances, activities, and festivities to honor this important cultural tradition on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025.
– Primary School: Join the “Golden Snake in Spring” garden party featuring crafts, games, festive snacks, and traditional costumes.
– Secondary School: Celebrate with a speech competition and cultural workshops, including calligraphy, paper cutting, and tea art, showcasing student leadership and cultural pride.

As we turn the page to a brand-new year, let’s make it extraordinary together! Whether we’re cheering on the Blue Dragons, sharing laughter at cultural celebrations, or connecting over coffee at the next parent event, every moment counts. I’m thrilled to announce that XLIS will host two incredible events this year: the 2025 ACAMIS Spring Leadership Conference in April and the IBAP Workshop in June. These opportunities will not only spotlight our school but also strengthen our community and inspire growth.
