Dear Parents,
I would like to take some time to update you on several upcoming initiatives at the school. Our vision is to lead education through innovation and a student-centered community-driven approach. To this end, let me highlight some ways we are working towards this.
MAP Assessment
Our school being not-for-profit has made a large investment in our students’ progress through assessment. We have purchased Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) by NWEA. Students from P3 to M4 will take this assessment at the start of next academic year and then again at the end of the year. The data will be used from the first assessment to guide teachers in their planning. More information on the assessment may be found here.
ACAMIS Sports Division
After years of sports development, our school has successfully developed our high school sports program to where we will be able to join a national ACAMIS division. The requirement to join a division is that a school needs to be able to field male and female teams in the three core sports of basketball, football and volleyball. Next year our high school students will go on the road to play in tournaments across China. More information on ACAMIS divisions may be found here. This month we will be hosting a swimming tournament for ACAMIS. Our little swimmers are training hard for it at the moment.
Rare Diseases Exhibit
I would like to say a special thanks to our PTA chairman Mr. Zhang for educating our community on rare diseases this week. There has been an exhibition at the school which has helped us all to gain a better understanding of rare diseases.
Silk Road Music Competition
Finally, on April 13th, we will be hosting the Silk Road Music Competition. I encourage our students to be practicing their music and to apply to perform at this event. These kinds of opportunities go a long way in developing confidence in our students.
Finally, I love to hear from you. If you have any questions, would like to meet or have time to update me on your child’s life, it is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Brian Lalor (M.Ed.)
Deputy Head of School
