It is my great honour and privilege to welcome you back to Xi’an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS), a school that is part of the international community here in Xi’an. XLIS mission is to educate and develop students to become confident, open-minded global citizens through life-long learning and a sense of community. We strive to instill values, critical skills, creativity, and confidence to ensure our student’s success both in school and life.
At XLIS there is a dedicated group of people who have been preparing the school to reopen and welcome our students and staff back on campus. These people form the logistics department who oversees whole-school operations, and Aden Services an integrated facility management (IFM) company that supports and provides the school with catering services, security, cleaning, and facility maintenance. Our logistics department and Aden staff have been busy preparing the school to ensure all areas on campus are safe, clean, and well maintained to achieve high standards in our school’s facilities and operations.

Supporting Epidemic Prevention
The health and wellbeing of all our staff and students is a vital part of the school’s vision and mission, to ensure students and teachers can learn in a safe and clean environment. The school’s health centre alongside our cleaning and security staff work together to ensure not only is our school kept safe from physical threats but viral threats as well. As China strides forwarded in epidemic and prevention methods to safeguard schools and their communities, XLIS has strictly implemented procedures to protect students and staff, and reduce viral transmission.
Visitors must be registered with the school before entry. During this time of epidemic prevention and control, all students returning to school from low-risk areas outside Shaanxi Province must follow the school’s requirements in providing a negative nucleic acid test. Students who have left Xi’an within 14 days from medium to high-risk areas can not return to school and must self-isolate and monitor their health, complete a 14 day temperature report, and provide a negative nucleic acid test before returning to school.
We recommend all adults and students aged 12-17 to get vaccinated, to support the ongoing epidemic and prevention efforts in China and Xi’an.
Before reopening the school, all staff at XLIS were required to take the nucleic acid test, and homeroom teachers monitor student’s health and take their temperature each morning.
With the support of the health centre, the school also practices quarantine and isolation drills to improve the responsiveness of medical support staff, should anyone on-campus display.
Campus Safety’s
At Xi’an Liangjiatan International School, we have thorough child safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure that our students and staff experience a safe and caring environment where they are protected from harm. Safety and security are paramount at XLIS, and our security team is responsible for 24 hours/7 days–a–week security patrols, campus access, CCTV monitoring, and our dormitory. Regular security drills and training are arranged weekly to ensure our security officers are well trained and prepared.
The logistics department and security guards work with relevant government departments and agencies to support and improve the schools safeguarding policies and procedures, and arrange regular security inspections.
XLIS doesn’t allow unauthorised personnel to be granted access to the schools campus under any circumstances. Visitors and guests entering the schools campus must produce valid identification and have an arranged visit with one of our administrative or teaching staff. All visitors will receive a visiting pass from the school guards, which must be worn and visible at all times. We’d like to remind parents that our security procedures exist for the safety of the entire school community, and our security guards are unable to exercise flexibility regarding campus.
The right nutrition for growing bodies and minds
Xi’an Liangjiatan International School continues to improve the nutritional values and quality of the food and service provided by our cafeteria. Providing students with a variety of food choices, cultivating a strong and healthy student body, where students can choose between Chinese, Korean, and Western meals.
Students and staff have more than 180 academic days a year on campus, with our school cafeteria providing breakfast and lunch for all students and staff each day, as well as dinner for our boarding students. Both PYP and MYP students are also served an array of snacks during morning and afternoon snack time throughout the week, ensuring students are provided with a well-balanced and nutritious diet to support growing bodies and developing minds.
Clean Environment
The cleaning staff managed by Aden, are a group of highly dedicated individuals providing clean facilities for the students and the school community. Staff and students show respect to these caring people because of their dedication to our students and staff at Xi’an Liangjiatan International school, who clean, sweep, and tidy, to ensure the school is spotless and ready for students to enter the school every day.
Facilities Team
Xi’an Linagjiatan International School is 68,000 sq. metres, and ensuring our school facilities are well maintained, repaired, and updated is integral to keeping students, staff, and the school community safe. The resource department working alongside our facility engineers continues to improve our facilities, with construction and maintenance and ongoing work including assessments and completing upgrades of critical systems such as our HVAC, fire suppression, lighting, and CCTV, needed to keep our state-of-the-art building running and safe all year round.
Buses
Ensuring students and staff arrive at school and home safely is a top priority at XLIS. Each morning XLIS has 16 school buses routes for students to arrive safely to school each day. The buses used at XLIS are designed for safety, with flashing lights, specially designed mirrors, stop-sign arms, and highly visible (bright yellow colour).
Each week with the support from our school’s resource department and bus company, school buses are inspected to ensure all seatbelts are working, buses are kept clean and well maintained, and first aid kits and other safety equipment are kept in good order. Our resource department works daily with our bus support staff to support and educate students in the appropriate behaviour while travelling on buses, and to ensure all students have a pleasant and safe journey.
Clean Air Environment
Outdoor air pollution can impact health, however, indoor air pollution can also have significant and harmful health effects. Children’s bodies and lungs are still developing, so having an effective indoor air quality (IAQ) system is necessary to ensure students, staff, and teachers have an atmosphere that keeps them safe and helps them succeed at school. At XLIS, we understand the importance of having good IAQ and how developing an effective IAQ program can benefit the health and education of our students and staff. Poor IAQ can lead to a large variety of health problems and potentially affect comfort, concentration, and overall staff and student performance.
XLIS partnered with and invested in a new pressurized HVAC and IAQ system from PureLiving China, a leading company in China on providing effective IAQ systems for school, sport, and office environments. The IAQ system was implemented and designed to improve the overall indoor air quality of the school, allowing clean fresh air to flow directly into the classrooms raising the positive clean air pressure inside each room, keeping bad air particles and pollutants outside, creating a safer, healthier learning environment.
Open Campus Approach
XLIS believes in community, and our parents are part of the school’s larger community which is why the school has an open approach for our PTA members to come onto campus to observe the inner workings of the school.
During this special period of epidemic prevention and control, all parents, visitors, and guests who would like to come into school must pre-arrange their visit. Please do not hesitate to contact our student centre or resource department (pr@xalis.com / resources@xalis.com) for further information.
I’d like to personally thank all our staff, students, and parents, for your continued support in helping prepare for the new school year. Your commitment to ensuring Xi’an Liangjiatan International School remains the top IB International School in Xi’an is inspiring. We eagerly look forward to greeting students and families back at our beautiful campus, for another year full of learning and achievement.
It remains an honour and privilege to serve XLIS and the community to ensure students, staff, and parents are welcomed into a safe, clean, modern campus environment.
