Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you well. Thanks for coming for the Student led conferences last week. It was great to see you interact with your child to support their learning along with the homeroom teachers. It reinforces the bond that you develop as a team with the homeroom teacher to support your child mentally, socially, physically and intellectually in their learning journey at XLIS. Thanks for making the summer fair exciting even though we had it indoors. We are close to the end of the semester and this period of time is full of important events and academics. Some of them are:
MAP tests-Our Spring MAP tests are due to happen between May 18-22. This would be our second data point after the Autumn test that was held in September, 2025. These tests are adaptive and measure what your child can currently do and what your child is capable of with the current data in mind. Once the tests are complete, homeroom teachers will be communicating the data to you. I would like to remind that we do not teach to the MAP test. However, the tests help us identify gaps in knowledge and allows us opportunities to think how we can support knowledge development. Please support your child by reiterating its’ seriousness.
Work experience for M4 and M5– This is coming up quickly between May 25-28. Students would now have received their locations along with their contacts in the work place. Please encourage your children reminding them of the importance of engaging well.
DP1 Final Exams– This will take place from Monday, May 25 to Thursday, May 28, 2026.
These examinations serve as a key internal summative assessment and offer students valuable practice under formal exam conditions. While they are not the official mock exams, they provide an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their current level of understanding, identify areas of strength and improvement, and build confidence ahead of the upcoming mocks. The final exam will help inform the teachers of our students’ current level of understanding in their respective subjects to ensure appropriate and personalized support will be provided.
Attendance is mandatory for all scheduled examinations. Students are expected to arrive punctually and fully prepared with the required equipment. The detailed exam schedule is attached for your reference.
We understand that this period can feel demanding, and we are here to support every student through it. Students are encouraged to use the coming days for focused revision and to contact their teachers and/or the DP Coordinator if they need any guidance or clarification.
Classes for the 2026-2027 year – Thanks to parents who have written in to me at this stage. We are working on the classes for the next academic year. At XLIS, we try to well balance genders and nationalities etc. You may send this to on or before May 22nd. After this date, the classes will be allocated and changes will not be possible. If you could let me know 2-3 students your child would like to be in a class with, I can try to ensure they will be with at least 1.
Please note, I will not be accepting any special requests for subject teachers and homeroom teachers. I am only asking for feedback on peer relationships. Thank you for your understanding.
As always, feel free to write back, ask questions to your homeroom teachers to best support our children at XLIS. We will soon in June to close on a high note.We strongly recommend that parents who have not had any communication with homeroom teachers throughout this school year take the initiative to book online or offline meetings with Homeroom teachers. In this way, parents can have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of your children’s overall growth.
Have a great week ahead,
Shameek
