According to the school calendar, the last school day of the first semester will be on January 10th, 2025 (Friday). End of semester reports will be released to parents on Managebac by then.

According to the school calendar, the second semester is scheduled to begin on January 13th, 2025 (Monday). Please check the school emails regularly for any relevant notice.

Parent Teacher Conference
One of the most ways we achieve our school mission to enable confident, open-minded, global citizens through life-long learning and a sense of community is by partnering with parents. We believe that parents are the most important teachers in the lives of children. This day is dedicated for conferences to take place where parents can ask questions to teachers on how they can best support our students. We encourage parents to read the Semester One report in advance and have questions prepared. Let us work together to support our students to achieve to the very best of their ability.

Chang’an Cup-U19 Basketball Invitational
The fifth edition of the Chang’an Cup will be hosted at XLIS this January and is poised to be bigger and better than ever before. The invitational tournament will see twenty-two teams from twelve schools compete against each other to lift the coveted Chang’an Cup. Join us to cheer on the XLIS Blue Dragons and witness the city’s premier invitational tournament for international high school students.

Friday, 17th January
Whole School Open Day
On January 17th, XLIS will hold a school-wide Admission Open Day, and we invite all prospective families who are interested in enrolling in XLIS to sign up for the event. On the day of the event, the Senior Leadership Team will give a comprehensive and in-depth introduction of the whole school development, educational philosophy, faculty, curriculum, university guidance and other core contents. What’s more, the admission team will also lead you to visit the campus to learn about the school’s facilities, school life, admission criteria, etc., allowing you to experience high-quality international education in a comprehensive and multi-faceted manner. We look forward to meeting you at the Open Day and starting an educational journey full of hopes and dreams together.

Assemblies
Each Friday one of our homeroom classes has the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning! This is a student-led event that is supported by the teachers. The parents of the class that is presenting will be invited to join the audience.

Primary Parent Workshop
This workshop, titled “Assessment in the Primary School” will be led by Ms. Maggie Qiu (our Makerspace teacher) and Mr. Johnny Fees (our P3 homeroom and lower primary lead teacher). This workshop will emphasize the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers in the Primary Years Programme assessment process. Parents will gain practical strategies to support their child’s learning journey, recognizing that success takes place when all parties fulfill their roles. We will also clarify the scoring outcomes of 1, 2, and 3 on the report cards and what they represent, empowering parents to effectively engage in their child’s education for optimal growth and achievement.

Primary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
The Chinese department of PYP will hold a “Golden Snake In Spring” garden party on January 22nd, aiming to allow every child to truly experience the festive and peaceful atmosphere of the Chinese Lunar New Year, as well as the charm of traditional Chinese culture. In this event, children will participate in various handicraft of Chinese folk art skills experiences, play traditional Chinese New Year fun games, taste delicious Chinese New Year snacks, and showcase traditional Chinese New Year costumes etc.

Secondary Parent Workshop
Predicted grades (MYP & DP)-The predicted grades play an important role in the IB and they are derived from continuous assessment. Predicted grades are critical to university applications and also act as one of the markers of student’s academic engagement. These grades are represented as the latest and the fullest. The MYP and DP coordinators will explain how to arrive to predicted grades during this session.

Secondary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
Secondary Chinese Department will host the “Graceful Snake Brings Blessings, Welcoming the Lunar New Year” cultural event on January 22nd. This celebration is a vibrant fusion of tradition and modernity, serving as a brilliant stage for cultural exchange and heritage. The morning will feature the annual Chinese New Year Speech Competition, where students will express their deep understanding and love for Chinese culture through compelling and heartfelt speeches, setting the tone for a festive and cultural new beginning. The afternoon will be filled with captivating traditional workshops, including Chinese chess, calligraphy, paper cutting, and tea art, offering participants an immersive experience of the richness and depth of Chinese heritage. Entirely led and executed by students through teamwork and collaboration, the event highlights their outstanding leadership and team spirit, injecting cultural confidence and vitality into the campus, and allowing all teachers and students to share in the joy and resonance of cultural exchange in a celebratory atmosphere.
