Whole School Open Day
On January 17th, XLIS held a school-wide Admission Open Day, and we invited all prospective families who were interested in enrolling in XLIS to come. On the day of the event, the Senior Leadership Team gave a comprehensive and in-depth introduction of the whole school development, educational philosophy, faculty, curriculum, university guidance and other core contents. What’s more, the admission team also led them to visit the campus to learn about the school’s facilities, school life, admission criteria, etc., allowing them to experience high-quality international education in a comprehensive and multi-faceted manner.

Primary Parent Workshop
This workshop, titled “Assessment in the Primary School” was led by Ms. Maggie Qiu (our Makerspace teacher) and Mr. Johnny Fees (our P3 homeroom and lower primary lead teacher). This workshop emphasized the importance of collaboration between parents and teachers in the Primary Years Programme assessment process. Parents gained practical strategies to support their child’s learning journey, recognizing that success takes place when all parties fulfill their roles. We also clarified the scoring outcomes of 1, 2, and 3 on the report cards and what they represented, empowering parents to effectively engage in their child’s education for optimal growth and achievement.

Primary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
The Chinese department of PYP held a “Golden Snake In Spring” garden party on January 22nd, aiming to allow every child to truly experience the festive and peaceful atmosphere of the Chinese Lunar New Year, as well as the charm of traditional Chinese culture. In this event, children participated in various handicraft of Chinese folk art skills experiences, played traditional Chinese New Year fun games, tasted delicious Chinese New Year snacks, and showcased traditional Chinese New Year costumes etc.

01.Secondary Parent WorkshopPredicted grades (MYP & DP)-The predicted grades play an important role in the IB and they are derived from continuous assessment. Predicted grades are critical to university applications and also act as one of the markers of student’s academic engagement. These grades are represented as the latest and the fullest. The MYP and DP coordinators explained how to arrive to predicted grades during this session.

Secondary Chinese New Year’s Celebration
Secondary Chinese Department hosted the “Graceful Snake Brings Blessings, Welcoming the Lunar New Year” cultural event on January 22nd. This celebration was a vibrant fusion of tradition and modernity, serving as a brilliant stage for cultural exchange and heritage. The morning featured the annual Chinese New Year Speech Competition, where students expressed their deep understanding and love for Chinese culture through compelling and heartfelt speeches, setting the tone for a festive and cultural new beginning. The afternoon was filled with captivating traditional workshops, including Chinese chess, calligraphy, paper cutting, and tea art, offering participants an immersive experience of the richness and depth of Chinese heritage. Entirely led and executed by students through teamwork and collaboration, the event highlighted their outstanding leadership and team spirit, injecting cultural confidence and vitality into the campus, and allowing all teachers and students to share in the joy and resonance of cultural exchange in a celebratory atmosphere.
