Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you and your family well. This is my first email to you as the Secondary school principal at XLIS. I would like to welcome everyone new or returning to a new school year 2024-2025.
For anyone who is new to our community, my name is Shameek Ghosh. I am originally from India and have been in XLIS for the past two years. It is a new role for me as the Secondary principal at XLIS, as I enter into the third year of being here. I have been an IB educator for the past nineteen years and have occupied different positions at different schools. I also do work for the IB as a School visit leader and workshop leader and have been in China for the past ten years. I love to get students to think critically and encourage our teachers to do the same. As I said in my welcome address in the community day two weeks back, my goal would be to improve the three ‘C’s as I would call them; Curriculum, Communication and Community. You as the parent and our team at XLIS are one community with the same goal, that is, getting your child to be successful in the best possible way.
We look forward to meeting you on the ‘Meet the Teachers night’ on Wednesday, the 28th of August from 4:30 P.M-5:30 P.M. You will be meeting your child’s homeroom teachers on the day and have conversations about how we can improve school and home communication to help your child. The homeroom teachers would focus on the handbooks and the policies that exist. The Secondary calendar is attached as part of this e-mail. This would allow you to plan your time with your child. Please be careful about planning your vacations with your child, as missing school can also lead to your child finding it difficult to catch up.
I would also encourage you to download and read the grade specific handbook. The QR codes to download were shared on the community day and further by the homeroom teacher. However, it is attached as part of the email again in case you need it. All our teachers contacts are available in all the handbooks. We are all here to support your child. Please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teachers and myself at any point of time.
We will share our Secondary parent workshop calendar with you in the next two weeks so that you can ensure participation from your end in these. Attending these workshops are crucial for us to be on the same page for making your child’s education meaningful at XLIS.
Thank you for your continued trust and engagement in your child’s education. Together, we can ensure that XLIS remains a place where every student can grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
-Shameek
