Dear Parents,
Good afternoon to all and I hope you have had a wonderful time with family during the golden week holiday. Now that we are back, we have some important events coming up apart from a rigorous month of teaching and learning.
Parent Workshop and open days
On the 9th of October (Wednesday), Mr. Kyle Jooste, Mr. Kelvin Tian and Mr. Sky Du, will lead a parent workshop on inquiry based learning in science, mathematics and Individuals and societies in the IB. The details for this workshop have been shared by the PR. I would highly encourage you to register for this workshop so that you can learn more on how inquiry works in the IB. Please have a look into the workshop series that I had sent in my last e-mail to register your availability. Apart from the workshops, we also have open days that are organized for you to get a flavor of how your children experience lessons throughout a day. Watch out for PR’s announcements on this.
MAP results, October reports and three way conferences
Our M1-M4 students have now successfully completed their MAP tests. The results have been sent home before the national holiday break. Teachers have started looking at the data to consider strategies to support your children in the classroom. The DP2 is having their CAS exhibition on October 11. The M5 is working on Criterion ‘C’ of reflection for their personal projects.
All secondary school students will get their progress reports on the 18th of this month. This would be a comment only report for M1-DP1 students. DP2 will get number grades along with comments. The progress reports should allow you, your child and the teachers to have a conversation in the three way conferences that have been scheduled on October 23. We will send you sign-up sheets to reserve slots to meet the subject teachers.
ACAMIS volleyball team traveling to HongKong
We will have our first traveling team for the ACAMIS green division volleyball going to HongKong by the end of this month. We would like to encourage our students to find a balance in their academics and extra curricular activities.
Sincerely,
Shameek Ghosh
Secondary Principal
