Dear Parents ,
I hope you enjoyed the International Day of Peace. It was wonderful to see the campus so full of energy! I would like to share some important updates and opportunities with you, including the MAP Testing for our students, the Annual Secondary Language Replacement Test, and the way to get included in the PTA.
- MAP Testing for Students
This year, XLIS has implemented the NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress ) Growth assessment to measure academic progress in key areas such as reading, mathematics, science, and language usage. This assessment focuses on student growth over time against international standards, allowing us to track your child’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years.
P3-M4 students have completed the MAP test. Parents will receive the results via email from homeroom teachers by the end of September. The report will include:
– RIT Score: Reflects your child’s academic performance. It indicates the level of difficulty at which your child is answering questions correctly.
– Percentile Rank: Shows how your child performed compared to peers in the same grade globally. A higher percentile indicates better performance.
– Growth Over Time: Indicate growth from previous test scores, highlighting areas of improvement or need for support. Since this is the first data report, it doesn’t show any growth data.
Find more information about MAP, please visit the website at https://www.nwea.org
- Annual Secondary Language Placement Test
To support effective learning, language placement tests are conducted each August to ensure that students are placed in language courses that match their current level. This approach fosters optimal growth and achievement in language learning every year.
Please note that while students are assigned to specific levels based on their current abilities, this placement can change as their skills develop. Adjustments are made based on annual assessments and are guided by our school’s Language Policy (see attachment 1) and professional expertise, rather than individual requests.
