Dear Parents ,
Good morning! I hope this email finds you very well! I have just come from the swimming pool where I was watching our primary students participate in the competition that marks the end of our 8 week swimming unit. It’s incredible to see how confident and poised they are in the pool!
Last week was amazing, as Literacy and Culture Week saw so many wonderful things happening with literacy at the helm. The Book Fair was a huge success, the storyteller Karen Golden was so entertaining, and the students had so much fun diving into their favourite books and representing characters on Book Character Day. I also saw so many of you, our parents, coming into classes to read to the students. Thank you!
On October 28th and 29th, we had our mid-cycle review with our accreditation authority ACS-WASC. It was a very successful visit by the team members and they gave us some valuable feedback about areas we can focus on for further growth. They spoke very highly of our parent community and said that they were very impressed with the level of involvement you all have with the school and in your children’s learning. Thank you all for being such a wonderful part of our community, for your participation in our events, and for your continuous support for your children’s growth.

Family Trips
There have been many applications recently by families wishing to excuse their children from school for family trips. I am attaching our Primary Calendar to this email. Please try your best to organize trips within the holidays or non-school days to ensure your children get the most out of their education at XLIS. From now until December 14th, our students will be very busy preparing for the Christmas Concert, and it would be helpful if the students participating were at school for the practices.
Thank you again for all you do for our school community. Please reach out at any time,
Sincerely,
Marly Song
