Dear Parents,
Good morning to all and hope this e-mail finds you all in good health. The month of September brings in autumn, festivities and a whole lot of other celebrations. It is a busy month full of teaching and learning. However, there are several important events that are happening this month. I would like to share this with you so that you can plan ahead and participate.
Parent Workshop
On the 11th of September (Wednesday), Ms. Momo Li, the Chinese lead teacher and Mr. Michael Koran, the language acquisition subject leader and teacher will run a parent workshop on language learning in the IB. The details for this have been shared by the PR. I would highly encourage you to register for this workshop so that you can learn more on language acquisition and language and literature. I have also attached our parent workshop list for the year. I would highly encourage you to participate.
Assessments in September
Our students will be attempting the MAP (Measure of academic progress) tests. These tests are adaptive and measure what your child can currently do and what your child is capable of with the current data in mind. This allows teachers to deliver the curriculum better. Mr. Lalor had sent an e-mail regarding these tests earlier. Our M1 and M2 students are doing the test on the 12th and 13th of this month and M3 and M4 will be doing this on the 19th and 20th. Once the tests are complete, you will be able to access the data.
The DP1 students have started working on the core and formatives. The DP2 will have to start with their submissions based on the calendar shared in DP2. The M5 is working on their personal projects.
International Day of World Peace
We will celebrate this event on the 21st of September (Saturday). Students have chosen a country to represent and have created different themes to introduce to you. It is essential to develop some important life skills through such events. Engaging in such events would allow your children to develop leadership, collaborative skills, communication and management skills. You are definitely going to see some very colorful booths and enthusiastic students. Please come and encourage them. We look forward to your continued support.
Homework schedules for M1-M3
You would have received homework schedules from the homeroom teachers for classes M1-M3. This is created to have a balance in the workload. These are times that the homework is being given. The submission dates may vary based on the nature of the homework. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher in case you have a doubt.
I hope that your children are enjoying school. I can only reiterate the importance of being regular in school. It definitely allows students to remain engaged and keeping up to date with their learning and healthy social behavior. Let us work together to help our students achieve the best.
Regards
Shameek Ghosh
